Although this lipstick is a satin finish (my faves are cremesheen and amplified) I couldn’t resist snagging it when it released. Every single cent from the sale of Viva Glam goes toward helping women and children living with HIV/AIDS. The fact that I listen to Nicki’s music also made buying this non- negotiable. M.A.C.’s 226 brush – is 2009′s version different than 2011′s? Pics Included
This morning, or perhaps the last couple days there has been talk about the 226 brush releasing with the M.A.C. Me Over collection having a different shape.
I stopped into the M.A.C. Pro store here in NYC to pick up a couple things today. I intended to get a back up 226 brush, and thought it may help someone if I showed side by side pics.
I kept the plastic on the newer one in the 1st couple of pictures.
And there you have it! I don’t see a difference at ALL. My older one appears a tiny bit fluffier, which will happen with use over time.
The 226 brush will be on sale tomorrow in all M.A.C. stores. Get em while they’re hot!!!
M.A.C’s 224 brush has long been a mainstay for effortlessly blending eye shadow. So back in January of 2009 M.A.C. released its limited edition little sister (226) the crowd went wild. The Brunette Blonde Redhead collection had many gems, including three awesome mineralized skin finishes and the aforementioned 226 brush. The brush blends well, just as the 224. But the 226 allows for more detailed crease work. I find that you get precision color placement, exactly where you want it. Since the bristles are a bit shorter and the brush is slightly more tapered, blending is a lot more controlled.
The brush was then released again in July of 2009 with the colour craft collection, still limited edition. We know M.A.C. kindly brings things out their trusty vault and eventually re-release. If you didn’t get to get your paws on this brush previously, M.A.C. will reintroduce it in the M.A.C. Me Over collection on August 25th, 2011. I think I shall cop a couple back ups.
To help you with your buying decisions (yes you should be buying it lol) I snapped some pics of the 224 and the 226 side by side so you can see the difference.
MAC Bloggers’ Obsessions @Afrobella @TheMakeupGirl @nitro_licious swatches and pics
I was so excited when I heard of this collaboration. I find very encouraging that a line such as MAC, owned by a huge parent company (Estee Lauder) knows just how influential bloggers and social media is. I snapped a few of my faves;and they just happen to be blogs that I read on the regular. I purchased “All of my Purple Life” by Afrobella; “Hocus Pocus” by The Makeup Girl; and “Nitro:Licious 2046″ by Nitrolicious.

Glosses “All of my Purple Life” and “Nitro:Licious 2046″
This purple is sooooooo DOPE. I love a nice red lip so it left me with no choice but to cop.
This is a great red to snagged if you are trying to get into using reds. It has color but sheerer than an actual lipstick.
ok ok. you have NO idea how much I am loving this shadow. It is a satin finish, you could grab almost any color in your stash and use it with this. It blends to perfection.
I have used “Hocus Pocus” for the past week in a variety of combinations. In my quest to do more FOTDs I will be posting looks using the items I purchased.
Currently “All of my Purple Life” and “Hocus Pocus” are sold out, I heard they will be restocking. ”Like” my facebook page and I will update as soon the items are restocked. The entire collection is available online only through August.
What did you love most?
Ruby Kisses All Over Glow…..dupe for MAC “Gold Deposit” MSF?Or not.
The Ruby Kisses “All Over Glow” was one of the items we received during the press preview at The Makeup Show NYC. Ruby Kisses made it’s debut at the show and so far on twitter and on the web I have heard many great things about the line. Before the show I owned a couple of their complexion products and was thoroughly satisfied.
The powder closely resembles MAC’s mineralized skin finish in “Gold Deposit“. There is obviously huge price difference. I happen to also own Gold Deposit… Lets have a look see!
Nearly identical!
Ruby Kisses “All over Glow”
And now for MAC’s mineralized skin finish in “gold deposit”
here are the two side by side , left is MAC right is Ruby Kisses
welllll what say you? Honestly, the Ruby Kisses has a smidge of red in it but I say it get’s a pass! And $3.99? Win all the way around. You could get the bronzer AND 4 cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery.
The U.K. designer, Gareth Pugh will collab with M.A.C. for a collection this fall- the exact date is not available, but we can expect it in November 2011.
No photos of the collection have surfaced, at least not to my knowledge.Taking a look at his shows for Fall 2011, probably will clue us in to perhaps the color palette.
The collection will be in limited edition packaging and could likely bring us hues of cobalt blue, gray and gold (faints). The collection will also include Gareth Pugh for M.A.C. accessories. I DIE!
Here are some celebs who have adorned themselves in the designer’s garb…. The structure of the pieces alone make me thirsty to see what the make up will look like!
Are you excited for this collection? I really dig when MAC partners with fashion designers! You can have one without the other.

M.A.C. “Alpha Girl” Beauty Powder pics+swatches on NC 45 skin
Cool your jets! I have not purchased anything from M.A.C.’s newest collection “Fashion Flower”. With the upcoming Make Up Show here in NYC, any make up purchases I make up need to be about that life. Meaning they need to be realllyyyyyyyyyyy something I have to have. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with collection, I haven’t seen anything I had to have- yet.
It is available at MAC Pro according to my twitpal GMarie . It should be available at the end of this week for in store purchase. I have seen the collection swatched here. But since I own “Alpha Girl” released in 2008 for the Heatherette collection I thought, ah, what the hell! So yes, a limited edition product, now repromoted. May as well swatch it, should there be any other NC 45 girlies curious to know what it looks like on our skin tone. For others that are different skin tones, it always helps to see it in real life, aside from stock photos.
As for me, it works well as a highlight. To be honest I haven’t given it much burn. I am a sucker for packaging. I loved the compact and I knew that I could put it to use at some point. Enough of my yapping.

So there you have it folks! What I do need to do it is get my timing better so I can get shots in natural daylight. Welp!
Last week without very much notice, it seems, M.A.C. opened a pop up shop featuring it’s latest and greatest, Wonder Woman….
My homie Danielle aka The Style and Beauty Doctor got dressed and mosied downtown to Soho. She grabbed a couple of items for me and the rest is history.
I got both blushes Read the rest of this entry »
As we know, our pal Lady Gaga signed on for another year for M.A.C’s Viva Glam campaign… You know, the lipsticks and glosses that benefit AIDS by contributing every single cent of profit to M.A.C’s AIDS fund.
Last year, the Gaga color was a pretty shade of pink, and something we adored, very fitting of Lady Gaga. This year… she’s stepped away from the girlie pink and into the nude world. The finish is an amplified (I LOVE amps!) and very close to half and half , except the latest from Gaga is not a pink.
