Rollin with my Homies…..aka Link Love

I hope that today is bringing you plenty of rest and relaxation. Last week was very long, I started at a different location for work and it had me so nervous and excited;both left me completely exhausted by Friday. It snowed here on Saturday, forcing me to stay in and chill. I so needed that! The challenge has been to not completely drain my checking account, shopping online. I haven’t been posting regularly as I’d like. Between demands of the job and a few personal things I really couldn’t focus! Have you ever felt that way? Today will also be a day where I will indulge in cat naps all day, so I hope to be back to blogging on Monday. I have managed to read some really great posts in the meantime…Check em’ out below!

Aside: Carm’s 2011 Reflections+Ramblings

I know. Everyone keeps saying it- myself included. Where did the year go? It feels just like I was digging myself out of the blizzard we had in late 2010. What I do know is 2011 has been an AWESOME year. I have accomplished and learned so much. Give me a moment of your time to glance back at the year. Read the rest of this entry »

Carm and Danielle’s Thanksgiving at 7 Eleven and the video to prove it.

Check out the amped lipstick I’m wearing here.

Don’t cry for us Argentina! We actually didn’t spend our whole holiday at 711. We went to a buffet and when nuts on all kinds of hot eats and cool treats. My family is over 600 miles away and getting home this time of year doesn’t jive for work.

We stopped at 7 Eleven for coffee. Check out our foolery. Hope you guys are enjoyed the holiday!

Rollin with my homies……..aka link love

Hey now hey!  Sadly today is my last day of vacation. I  was initially  all set to go to Boston for a few days but there was a slight change of plans. I really wanted to seeing as though Boston is my second favorite city on the east coast. At any rate I got so much done here in my apartment. I threw so much junk away, got together  stuff to take to Goodwill, I was really productive! I was able to catch up on some much needed rest. Anytime I take time off work I am always running around around like a crazy person. This “staycation’ shaped up to be really awesome.

Over the past few days I also got in some reading and came across some great posts. See for yourself.

Looking for great home decor accessories? I have bookmarked several items already from this post at Made by Girl.

OMG wait until you see the Man Repeller’s closet .

Care to see Rachel Zoe’s workspace really  really up close and personal? I DIE!

Is it getting cold wherever you live? Channel your inner Martha Stewart with this Thai Curry soup- I think I want to make this very soon!

I am giving away moisturizers! Enter here  and keep that skin hydrated!

Welp I guess that is all I have for now. My this week flew by way too fast! Enjoy your Sunday!

Rollin with my homies……..aka link love

Good day mates! I spent my Friday night doing some much needed organization. I have been in my apartment for several months now and I am STILL adjusting to having half of the space I once had. Saturday I mosied around my hood and meandered to Old Navy to see if there was anything worth having.

But of course I stalked some great reads, and you should too. Here goes it.

Erin over at Elements of Style Blog shows us the power of purple, wait til you see these interiors kids!

The folks at Refinery29 have images and pricing up for Versace x H&M. I DIE.

Chcek out this AMAZEBALLS post from Milly over at Beauty Logic Blog. She discusses releasing hate. Tell her Carm sent ya!

Everyone enjoy the rest of your Sunday! :)

What Would Steve Jobs Do? Steve’s 7 Secrets to Success.

Thanks to a tweet from my pal Milly, I was able to hear a great message on 20/20. From the late Steve Jobs, a genius and a visionary that we will never forget.

Here are his seven, straight to the point, secrets to success.

1) Do what you love.

2)Put a dent in the universe- have a bold, clear concise vision.

3) Say no to 1,000 things- reduce clutter, stay focused.

4)Kick start your brain (try something new).

5) Sell DREAMS, not products.

6)Create insanely great experiences.

7) Master the message.

Apparently there is a whole book on these seven secrets. While I do not own the book, I plan to take a closer look at my vision board (oh wait, I gotta create one)- I need to start applying these basic principles to several parts of my life. Did you guys watch? It makes me kind of said, as my Dad died of the same cancer, Pancreatic. I watched my Dad fight, and Steve was some kind of warrior. It’s so heartbreaking to watch someone you love  deteriorate right before your eyes, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Count your blessings, and be thankful for everyday of good health!

Love,

Carmen

What is your spending limit when purchasing cosmetics? Serious question folks.

Yeah. I have actually wanted to ask this for a long time. As a lover of skincare, makeup and fragrance for several years now I have tried many things. One would think I would eventually grow tired after my trillionth mascara, the billionth tube of red lipstick. Fact is, I don’t. I curb my spending because I know I can’t live like a freshman in college in an unfurnished apartment, but the desire it still very much there. I also do not use credit cards for makeup/clothing purchases so I guess I still don’t feel as bad.lol.

I get excited over drugstore products, the latest soap at Lush, and well… the list could go on. Funny thing about cosmetics is you don’t exactly need to squeeze yourself into them. You don’t get that feeling of “My, I look like a cow in this bathing suit” after you put on silky new night cream. With buying so many cosmetics, I still never stop  exploring what’s next and what I haven’t experienced.

Insert higher price tags here.

Most beauty gals would agree, you always  find a way to justify the price….It’s like it all makes sense. Let me cut to the chase here. I was walking through Bergdorf’s the other day….checking out Chanel’s new foundation. I always stroll through fragrances. Creed always grabs me. But this time, I decided to mist myself with Clive Christian……It instantly evoked a feeling of elegance (I had a shiny face and looked like a stray dog). I sniffed my blazer like a nutcase all the way back to Queens.

Exhibit A.

Guess what. Your eyes are NOT deceiving you.Yes. It is that expensive. Would I pay $865 for a perfume? Show me a winning powerball ticket and I will answer that.

Without going into all of the high end makeup and fragrance I own………..Tell me. What is your limit? Do you treat yourself on a splurge here and there? Spill it! When do you draw the line?
