Review: Cover Fx Skin Tint – before and after pics included

I had the opportunity to try this out awhile back, I am so excited to tell you guys about it. I gave it a run and finally feel like I can give it my honest opinion. As I said before I am no stranger to Cover Fx, the very first product I owned was their infamous cream, foundation and the primer. From then I knew I would love the brand. The primer includes vitamins; F,A,C and E…How cute! Seriously the primer is better for your skin than many of the serums by top skin brands. Read the rest of this entry »

Complexion Chronicles: Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Review+pics

Of course I have tried it. I’m a foundation groupie. So let me get right to it. I bring to you Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Makeup .

I have actually used this off and on for almost a year now.I decided to pull it out, now that the weather is cooling down (boo hiss!).

                1 fl.oz. of product…..great for recessionistas.

What Maybelline says:

“Liquid-mousse texture Air-whipped formula provides skin perfecting coverage. Smooth, 100% poreless finish with natural luminosity Air-brushed natural perfection Blends effortlessly for a flawless, air-brushed finish. Oil-free, Fragrance-free, Dermatologist Tested, Allergy Tested, Non-comedogenic – won’t clog pores. Safe for sensitive skin, good for all skin types.”

My thoughts? It provides medium to full coverage. I am not sure how it holds up without a primer, as I wear some type of primer or anti-shine product no matter what. It holds up through out the day without streaking. On hot/humid days this would not be my foundation of choice. It did get rather greasy on hot days- take into consideration I am the oiliest person in the western part of the globe.I never need a concealer to cover additionally when I wear it. I ALWAYS buy drug store cosmetics during promotions, so I’m sure it was bogo or something.

The verdict? It could perhaps be viable if you keep an arsenal of foundations in your stash. If you are really oily, make sure you wear a primer. I definitely recommend setting with a powder.

Pics displaying the texture.Of course my hand is a lot darker than my face.

This is shade Dark 2. I also have Dark 1, and sometimes mix them during the seasons.

Here is me before foundation. Don’t laugh, I clip my hair back to get it of out the way.

This is me fully covered in foundation. Work with me folks. I’m still trying to learn the settings on my cam, so the lighting is tres weird.I should read the manual,no? You can see how well it covers though.

Here is what I used on the rest of my face

Edited to add: There may be some that think this isn’t my shade……..blame it on flash photography. No way I’d walk around with foundation that doesn’t match. :)

Complexion Chronicles: Mehron

It kind of goes with the territory; blogging and trying/buying 500976 products.I get it. Aren’t we all on the search for the most perfect foundation, mascara, cellulite reducer, etc? So I’d like to start categorize these reviews/posts a bit better, where applicable. For starters, we’ll go with something I can’t get enough of: Foundation/complexion products. I recently had the chance to try Mehron foundation. It is from a company that has been around since forever. Many people well versed in theactrical productions, stage, etc probably have heard of it.In particular I tried their Hi definition make up, a cream foundation. Many of you probably think I am nuts for wearing cream/liquid products during these 90 degree days. I do still have all of my marbles.I occassionally will wear a powder, but liquids and creams provide the best coverage for me. This product comes in many shades, so many people would be able to find their perfect shade. For those who may require mixing two shades, it may not be a bad idea. After all one container (which you may have to pass down to your grandkids, you only need a little) costs a mere $9.95, less than many drugstore foundations.

The verdict? I think I was able to achieve a great color match…. It blended out without obvious signs of demarcation, and without much effort. I tried with both a sponge and a brush. Both gave me pretty good application, a sponge maybe quicker for those with less time to spend on application. For those that have oily skin (like moi) I STRONGLY suggest using some time of primer, anti shine product prior to application. As I did find I got a bit oily after a couple of hours. It did not crease, or settle throughout the day. A plus for me because I usually wear my make up for about 11 hours before I am back home (hence I can’t look like a melting candle mid day). The only real caveat I found is transferrability. I used Ben Nye banana powder to set, and found that I did have some transfer. I am not sure if Mehron has a setting powder and if so if it would cut down on this issue. Likely to repurchase? Probably so. In fact I will be looking to add some of them to my professional kit in the future.

For reference I am a shade Dark 1 in the Mehron, and a NC45/C7 in M.A.C.

One Step Forward. Foundation Review.

As you can imagine. Living out of a suitcase can get old fast. To pack smarter and not  bombard my friend’s Manhattan apartment with 673277823 pieces of my personal belongings, I had to scale down my make up. I have all my skin care and make up in to small, extremely messy bags. For make up lovers you knoe editing for packing can get really difficult.I will share pictures at another time (my cable to my camera is in CT) of what made the cut. What I must rave about is what I deem most important (next to eyebrows)…FOUNDATION. I have worn Stila Cosmetics One Step Makeup Foundation

everyday for the last week, so I can say I’ve given it a fair shake. My days start early and end LATE. This foundation is love. It conceals, primes and covers EVERYTHING on my face. Over a period of 12+ hours I end up blotting twice.Thats earth shattering for me and my greasy face. Through all the wear I have yet to see it crease.Amazing texture. There are no areas where the foundation has worn off. It is on until I take it off. I wish there was a deeper color range for all the complexion junkies of the world.

Stila… you’re onto something, and I’m glad you all are back in the saddle. For reference, I am  the shade “deep”
