What I Wore: The $15 H+M Dress,Half a Turban and That Doggone Sweater.

I’m finally back in NYC. I enjoyed my time with my family back home- but there is nothing like your own bed! Some of you may know, I went home for my sister’s wedding. We had a great time, and had lots of laughs.

At her rehearsal dinner I was able to get my younger sister to snap a few impromptu pics.

I picked up this dress at some point last year at H&M. They had it in several colors and prints Read the rest of this entry »

Budget Friendly Fashion: Twenty Dresses from ASOS all under $50

Window shopping ASOS’s sale section I found quite a few dresses that may or may not need to make it to Queens, specifically in my closet. I grabbed a couple of items the other day, but since ASOS has free shipping me thinks I may want to place another order. Many of the dresses could very easily be worn as is, others you can totally layer and rock this fall/winter. I am imaging all the styling possibilities and need to rack up on tights, chunky heels and accessories!

Take a look….

Don’t buy up all of the size tens- I’m warning you! I will come to your house.

I’m loving it: Fashion Designer Yoana Baraschi

A few years ago when I worked for Anthropologie I would look at pieces when they first came into the store in awe. If you have ever shopped in an Anthro store you know the feeling. So many beautiful articles of clothing, and countless unique and rare finds for the home.

Many items caught my eye, and it was there where I was exposed to many indie designers and budding trendsetters. In fact, this is were I first laid eyes on dresses and blouses by Yoana Baraschi. I recall dresses of silk and sometimes wool blends that caught my eye. Her clothing can be found in Saks, Anthropologie and other retailers.

Have you see any of her pieces recently? Below are some I am diggin right now.

What I Wore: Asos Midi Dress and Vintage Aigner

I am finally back in my humble abode here in Queens! I went back home to Cincinnati for a long weekend and had a great time with family and friends. I attended my sister in law’s baby shower and of course I ate like a water buffalo.

No need to beat a dead horse about my weight gain. I chose a dress that was inexpensive, comfortable and covered all of my body parts. I tell you Asos is on their A game lately………..

Here are details on my dress:

I scored these Sam Edelman wedges a few years ago at an LF sale. Love how the leather on the wedge is tooled.

My Etienne Aigner bag was given to me a few years ago by my great grandmother….It is at least 30 years old. I love it!

My watch is actually a men’s watch by Invicta..I really dig chunky over-sized watches so I copped a men’s one and had 6 links taken out.

I have been without wifi while I was away, so  I am really looking forward to catching up on posts and all the good stuff. Thanks for reading!

Slithering through the Summer on the Cheap: 22 Maxi dresses under $50

I’m in denial that next week starts August….Although my fave part of August are September issues of magazines,we know daylight savings is soon coming to halt. I guess we have to maximize the next 8 weeks or so of warm weather, then fetch our thermal wear…grrrrrrrrr

I haven’t bought many summer pieces, and still find myself “needing” a frock or something lightweight to make me look pulled together. What better way than a maxi dress? As I mentioned here, I have put on weight and I refuse to buy things to accommodate this. Maxi dresses (for me at least) hide the weight gain, but I can still see working for me sans the muffin top I have acquired. There is no reason to go broke when buying easy breezy dresses of this nature either. Depending on the cut of the neckline and the length, many of the dresses can actually ushered right into cooler temperatures; layer them with tights , denim jacket or even fur!

Here are several that I thought were super cute, and super cheap.Add some cute jewels and a bag and BAM!

When Miu Miu’s cat print haunts me.

Where do I begin? Well. Back in fall of 2009 when Miu Miu ushered cat prints down the runway for Spring 2010. Yes,grown up, feline printed fashion. Read the rest of this entry »

I can appreciate a good Little Black Dress.

It’s that time of the year when holiday parties are going on, and amidst the chaos of holiday shopping makeing sure you are a stand out at said parties, while still keeping it classy is what the people want. What better than a LBD? Black looks good on everyone and for me, it someone hides my kangaroo pouch I have going on.Accessories and shoes are usually easy to pair with it and you can really go with whatever strikes your fancy for make up; high drama or  something minimal (depending on your audience/occassion,etc).

Here are some LBD’s I have fallen in love with as of late.

Partner it with a no fuss clutch or a minaudiere and BAM!
