FlyBarre is a total body sculpting class that blends the best of light weight training, dance, and core strengthening exercises. Using small intense interval exercises choreographed to immersive and inspiring music, FlyBarre quickly reshapes the body for lean, strong, and elongated muscles.What the above really means: be prepared to have your butt handed to you. I MEAN!!! I went to the Flatiron location where Khrystal was the instructor for our class. After we introduced ourselves, I let her know that this was my first time. Even as I powered through the warm up I knew playtime was OVER. We went through every section of the body! There was even a specific section for thighs- perfect, because if mine get any bigger I may have to swipe my metro card twice when taking the bus. During all the movements you complete them by “pulsing” (see below video). Everytime I couldn’t keep up with the class I was reminded of how out of shape I let myself become. I wanted to literally start crying hysterically; especially when I had a gander at myself in the mirrors as we got our barre on. Yeah- I’ve been talking about this for a year now; I’m taking no prisoners this go round. The video below is not at a Flywheel barre studio (I couldn’t find one), but this gives you an idea of the class. Khrystal checked our form throughout the class and every so often when she saw me struggling; she say “COME ON CARMEN, YOU GOT THIS!” But guess what? Getting it done was better than being trying to be perfect. Not sure how many calories I burned, during a Flywheel spin class I burn about 600-650 calories. The next time (and there will be a next time) I will wear a monitor and report back. On the softer side of Sears: I weighed in with my trainer on Saturday! I started a new gym and I’ve been working weekly with my personal trainer. I am down 8 lbs since November 11,2013. I wanted to lean more toward 10 pounds a month, so of course I’m beating myself up about that. We have a more structured plan in place to get me to my ultimate goal, an additional 26 lbs. My Sundays, for the most part, are pretty uneventful. And I like it that way. I wake, have breakfast and coffee and then get ready for church. After church I come home, read and usually cat nap the day away. By the time I’m ready to get some things accomplished I’m groggy and in a fog. Earlier in week I decided that I’m going to have to get creative so that I can get in the amount of workouts needed for me to reach my fitness goals. I reserved a spot in Flywheel’s Barre class.
