Urban Decay’s Beauty Balm scurried across my path a couple of weeks ago. And since this whole bb cream thing is STILL gaining steam; I had to give it a shot.
Let’s quickly revisit what a bb cream is, shall we? To put it simply, a bb cream (beauty balm, blemish balm) is an all-in-one product. It hydrates and protects the skin with SPF and also provides some coverage. It’s like a souped up tinted moisturizer.
Urban Decay’s Naked skin beauty balm contains an SPF of 20. It comes in one shade, and will blend up to shade 10.0 in their NAKED foundation range. Urban Decay says that it will minimize pores, wrinkles and redness instantly. Over time (8 weeks) you will experience more firmer lifted skin.
So now that we have pretty much established that you will not get much coverage with this balm, let me show you before and afters. I’m sure that’s why you are reading this post (it would be mine)!
After
Yes the difference is extremely subtle, perhaps undetectable at all, by some. Below is a side by side.
The texture reminds me a lot of a primer. In fact, that’s what this actually worked best as, a primer. It toned down the redness in my skin and without a doubt made my trusty studio skin wear a lot better. I wore during the long weekend last week ripping and running the streets of Baltimore. While my foundation holds up well on it’s own, I do believe it gave it a boost. I received a ton of compliments on how great my foundation looked. I do believe this beauty balm enhanced the wear.
If you are looking for a beauty balm to provide coverage- this is not it. If you are looking for something that will tone down redness and blur imperfections; this may be up your alley. It also helps that you get some sun protection. It is priced at $34 for 1.18 oz- the average price for a department store primer.
Have you tried this yet? What bb cream are you mad about?
