I’m Officially Tired of My Back Fat. I Have Joined the #Great48 Challenge.

Without a doubt a new year brings a ton of broken promises, resolutions and other such mirages to be painted.

I don’t think  I can remember when I last “resolved” to lose weight. Before the fall got underway I dropped about 14 lbs. Since then I have gained it all back. It started in Europe, coming home to no power (subsequently eating out EVERY day for 2 weeks, room service, etc).

Hamster wheel.

So naturally, it has been on my mind to take better care of myself. Who wants the problems that could potentially come with a steady increase of pounds? Not me. Oh and let’s not even get started on shopping for clothes. A damn nightmare when you take three sizes into the fit room; the one you were, the one you think you are and then the draperies you end up buying.

Over it.

Before you start to say, “Carm, you aren’t that big, you don’t need to lose any weight.”

Hogwash.

I stand at 5 feet and 3 inches. One more ounce on my frame is not acceptable. I hate huffing and puffing up the  subway stairs (people who are IN SHAPE, do not do this- I promise you). I am also at greater risk for diabetes and high blood pressure- both run on both  sides of my family.

I’m hoping this 6 week, 6 day challenge really kicks me into gear. I’m currently trying to decide if I want to join a gym ; I NEED to, but they aren’t exactly convenient nor close to where I live. In the meantime I have started walking (yes, even though it is so cold my ears shatter and fall to ground). I use the Exercise Skool feature on my trusty Verizon Fios on demand. My crib is also fully stocked with other workout DVDs and such. I have significantly increased my water intake. I have powered up my trusty Jack Lalane juicer again, which is a great way to get all of the nutrients you need in one swoop. I have started making grocery lists and better prepping for food shopping. When I did the Fat Smash Diet some years ago, it required some meal planning, but I lost weight, was never hungry, slept well and overall felt amazing.

I referenced this video again as I drafted this post from my girl BuildableBeauty. Great motivation!

If you want to get in on the action, it is all going down on Instagram. Follow @Deactivatedfatgirl for details on the challenge and the hashtag #great48 for all participants progress, meals, etc.

This post is more of yet another way to hold myself accountable and take this seriously. If you have any fitness/health goals for 2013 I’d love to hear about them!

P.S. I have snapped countless “before” pictures. I hope to share in the coming weeks.

P.S.S. My intention is not to offend anyone regarding their weight. I have my own issues, so no judgement here.
