Wow. It seems like ESSENCE Music Festival was just yesterday. As I gave play by plays via social media and the blog last year, many people were looking forward to attending in 2013. I had the time of my life!

This is year, I believe ESSENCE will out do itself. And with performers, speakers and activities lined up, you should make your plans, NOW. My heart nearly jumped out of my chest to learn that favorites such as Brandy, New Edition, Blackstreet, Jill Scott, Keyshia Cole and Mint Condition will take the stage this year. This by NO means includes all of the artists.

In addition to the great music, empowerment sessions are something I thoroughly enjoyed. Reverend Al Sharpton, John Lewis and Dr. Steve Perry have been confirmed; stay tuned for more to be added.

There is no shortage of things to do for your entire family. The 2013 ESSENCE Festival cultural and community programs include : family reunion day (free family activities, prizes and barbecue to celebrate the 4th of July, career zone (how cool would it be to find your dream job while in NOLA) and the healthy living zone (get ready to improve your mind,body and spirit).

As Michelle Ebanks, ESSENCE Communications President, said last year during the EMF press conference; we have to take time for ourselves. Start to carve this out in your budget; invite your girlfriends. You won’t regret it.
